The Baby Book

raamatukaasThe baby book „Pisike puu“ (translation from Estonian: „Little Tree“) was commissioned by the Estonian Cultural Ministry. The book is given as a gift from the Estonian state to all children who have been born or will be born in Estonia. The book contains 50 poems and stories which have been selected from the works of classic and contemporary Estonian children’s literature. The book was composed and published by the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre.

The title „Little Tree“ comes from a poem, of the same name, by Ott Arder. The book was illustrated by Anne Linnamägi. The purpose of the book gifting is to show appreciation for our country’s children’s literature and to help children develop reading habits from an early age.

Tallinners will be able to receive the baby book from any department or branch library of the Tallinn Central Library or from our mobile library Katarina Jee. The closest library to your family’s home may be looked up from here.
