Normal loan period is 21 days. Magazines are lent home for 14 days without the possibility of renewals. Bound magazines are lent home for 21 days and the loan can be renewed up to 3 times. Audiovisual items are lent for up to seven days. The loan can be renewed up to 3 times. Newspapers are lent home for 7 days without the possibility of renewals.
You have a right to borrow up to 30 items at a time with your library card. This can include up to 15 audiovisual items, depending on the size of the audiovisual collection of the library and its popularity among other patrons.
Loans can be renewed three times if there are no reservations and you renew them in time. You can renew your loans at the Online Catalogue ESTER’s My ESTER or you can ask the library personnel to do it for you. For online renewals you will need a PIN code. The total number of items on loan may not exceed 30. If items are not returned in due time, then you must pay an overdue charge, which is 0.03 € per item per day for the first 30 days. After that you will be charged 0.06 € per item per day. Overdue charges can be payed by cash at libraries, with a bank card or by a bank transfer.

If the title you need is currently checked out it is possible to reserve it. Reservations on library materials may be made in person or by e-mail. When a book you have reserved arrives in the library you will be notified either by e-mail or by phone. The reserved materials are held for you at the library for two days, starting from the time of notification.
If your home address is not in Estonia and you want to borrow books, you have to pay a deposit. If you do not want to borrow any more, you have to return all the borrowed items, present a receipt and you´ll get the deposit money back.
Materials meant for in-house use cannot be borrowed. Also certain types of materials, e.g. especially valuable items, single copies of an item, recent issues of periodicals and reference items.
